Early Childhood Teacher/Parenting Coach

Wellspring Inc. is searching for a very special Early Childhood Teacher/Parenting Coach to work on-site with mothers of young children birth to age 5, in a residential substance abuse treatment program in Bangor Maine.

The Early Childhood Teacher/Parenting Coach’s primary responsibility is to ensure quality programming by designing and delivering (in a home environment) developmentally appropriate classroom activities for no more than ten children. This position will have one mother working as an aid with the teacher.  Additional Parental Coaching responsibilities are to model and guide parents in utilizing developmentally appropriate parenting skills within the home environment.

Other responsibilities include completing developmental assessments using the ASQ tool. Also referring children for developmental intervention as needed.  Additional responsibilities include completing paperwork and reports, and maintaining records and data on individual children.

Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field is required, a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field is preferred; a minimum of two years’ experience in an early childhood setting is required. Home visiting experience a plus. Infant/toddler endorsement a plus. Must obtain and maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications.

Other Requirements: Pre-employment Maine Criminal background check, sex offender registry, child abuse and neglect records search, and DMV background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment. Must have a valid driver’s license, telephone, computer/word-processing skills, preferably Microsoft Office; must be able to function autonomously and as part of a team.
