2018 Race for Recovery

Join us for this year’s 5K Race for Recovery on September 16, 2018 at the Bangor Waterfront.

Wellspring’s annual Race for Recovery is a way to celebrate recovery, show your support, generate hope, reduce stigma and offer living proof the recovery is real! All proceeds will help us continue our mission of ensuring access for treatment services for all who seek treatment, regardless of ability to pay. Last year our sponsors and participants raised over $20,000! We hope to exceed that this year!

This year’s race has added a new category – teams! In addition to being able to register as an individual walker or runner, there is the option to register a team. We are encouraging local businesses and non-profit service organizations to create a team and come out and show your support for Recovery!

Show us your unique style!

Teams will be awarded prizes for originality, passion, color, and fun! Signs are welcome! Think: “We support Recovery!”  or “Walking to support those who passed away this year” or “In memory of….” Themes might include: “Superheros for Recovery!” or “Star Track Nerds for Recovery” “Recovery: Boldly Going Where Many Have Gone Before!”  You get the idea!

Why is this race important?

The number of people who need treatment keeps rising. Maine deaths caused by drug overdoses continue to increase: 208 in 2014; 272 in 2015; 376 in 2016; 418 in 2017!! It’s staggering! These are our neighbors, our loved ones, our friends. More than once a day in Maine someone loses a loved one to a drug overdose and most Mainers know someone who has been touched by this epidemic. Raising money to support Wellspring helps to ensure that we have the capacity to provide services for those in need, whether they have insurance or not.  You can help! Sign yourself or a team up today!

Recovery Rebuilds!

It rebuilds people, families, and communities. Recovery makes our communities stronger!
